Modelling of spatially located data for the generation of HBIM representation and storage scenarios: The research program concerns the Geomatics methods (UAV photogrammetry, Laser scanning, unmanned aerial vehicle, close range photogrammetry), for representation and analyses of urban environments characterized by process and dynamics of the city. The research aims to generate multi – scale models (characterized by semantic depth) derived from Geomatics methods. The ultimate objective of research is modelling and realization of 3d parametric model – HBIM – useful support in the interdisciplinary cooperation strategies, on the themes of urban legacy.
Emilio Abbate cooperates with lab G4CH-Laboratory of Geomatics for Cultural Heritage at PoliTo and FULL-Future Urban Legacy Lab.
He researches tools and survey methods for identify and implement HBIM model applied on Cultural Heritage, for monitoring, conservation, restoration and Finite Element Analysis (FEM). His interests are focused on the generation of BIM models from Point Clouds: modelling BIM from laser data and photogrammetric using object-oriented parameterization. Furthermore, his research activity concerns the development of workflow GIS/BIM, through use of geospatial data, NURBS, meshing techniques of BIM urban model with definition of different levels of Detail (LOD), aimed at the preservation of built heritage, urban analysis and facility management.

DOUT: Digital Open Urban Twin (Scientific coordination: Antonio Vetrò – NEXA/FULL).
DOUT is an inter-disciplinary advanced tool useful for interpretation processes, products or services of city, able to rovide predictive future urban plan. With DOUT, I would propose a virtual model of a city (city digital twin) multiphysics, multiscale, characterized by AI (Artificial Intelligence), machine – learning, and software analytics with data about real-time digital simulation models, that can update and modify as their real, physical, change. Moreover, the world of IoT (Internet of Things) characterized of sensors, software, actuators and computational capacity improve connection
